Activities

Far from the hustle and bustle of the city, Taka town offers a multitude of pleasant and relaxing activities. You can go for walks in nature, climb mount Sengamine and enjoy the vistas, visit the tranquil and unassuming local shrines, and learn about the centuries old Sugihara Kami traditional paper production.

In addition, Shigetsu-an offers a number of activities in which your hosts share their expertise, from natural farming, to the Japanese tea ceremony. Most, but not all, are listed below.

Kiko

At Shigetsu-an, we have Kiko practice every Saturday. For those interested, we can offer Kiko sessions as an activity at a convenient time. Through simple exercises, Kiko boosts the immune system, and can help slow down ageing.

Budo

An initiation course in Aikido and Kyudo is available for those who would like to get a first taste of these arts. The course is directed by your host Sep.

Cooking Class

We teach Japanese, South Indian, and Spanish cuisine.

Tea

Relax, and enjoy the tea ceremony at Shigetsu-an’s tearoom. Your host will be Sep.

Seasonal activities

Depending on the season, there is a chance to learn how to make green tea, preserved tomato sauce or pesto sauce. You can also experience natural farming in our vegetable garden.

Or just relax...

On our ample wood deck you can sit back and relax looking at the sky, listening to the birds while having a cup of tea, and clear your lungs with the pure air.
